The AR System® Support Team should check to ensure that all AR System® processes on all production servers are running and accessible. This validation process should involve logging into the AR System® servers which the organization is responsible for managing and performing some routine tasks which can serve as a baseline that the system is functioning properly.

NOTE: The validation process should involve more than simply ensuring that you can successfully log into the AR System® server.

This can be accomplished through the use of macros using the AR System® User Tool.

Further, support personnel should check the arerror.log file to ensure that there were no errors or problems encountered by the application server.

Support personnel should also check to ensure the production application servers have enough free disk space. Erratic problems can be caused by the application server running out of disk space.

Support personnel should verify that the application server is not running at unusually high levels of activity. Define: high – e.g., iowait < 20%, > 80 % CPU

The status of the Remedy Application Service should also be checked. As per Remedy technical support, there should not be any more than two instances of the rappsvc utility running on the application server. Further, of those two instances, one should be a child of the other.
